North Valley Vineyards is a dedicated Partnership between Tony & Michelle Soter (of Soter Vineyards and Mineral Springs Ranch in Carlton) and Winemaker James Cahill, representing a unique combination of deep, collective experience and genuine passion.
Tony and Michelle Soter share an uncompromised commitment to their ideals in managing their business and Mineral Springs Ranch. Working together they consistently produce wines of the highest caliber in a way that treads softly on the earth. Their ideals are conveyed through respectful farming and craftsmanship that allow a unique voice to emerge from these ancient soils and temperate climate. Winemaker, James Cahill, is a veteran of over 20 harvests in Oregon's Willamette Valley. His winemaking history includes time as Director of Operations with our esteemed colleague, Beaux Freres, Associate Winemaker and Vineyard Manager at Elk Cove and, finally, as Winemaker alongside Tony Soter at Soter Vineyards and Mineral Springs Ranch. His commitment to the study of wine embodies our winemaking philosophy.
Native to Oregon and the Willamette Valley, Director of Sales and Operations, Hallie Whyte, has earned her stripes locally in fine dining and wine sales. She was an early addition to the hospitality staff at Soter Vineyards following stints at both Lange Estate Winery and Dominio IV. Hallie has grown personally and professionally into a top notch director of all aspects of our Sales programs at both North Valley Vineyards and sister winery, Soter Vineyards. Fluent in Spanish and mathematics, she lends her expertise in logistics management in addition to providing exemplary hospitality.
Director of Hospitality and Events, Julia Bandy-Smith, is a qualified sommelier, former restaurant professional, and expert event planner. With real world experience in the trenches as Sous Chef at Smith Restaurant, harvest intern at Shea Wine Cellars, and General Manager/Wine Buyer at La Medusa, Julia's diverse background in food and wine is a fierce body of knowledge that makes her a natural fit as perfecter of the hospitality experience at both North Valley Vineyards and Soter's Mineral Springs Ranch. She is gracious and polished, with a palate that rivals a winemaker's.
